GREAT Bus System Wins A Three-Peat
It’s officially a three-peat. The Greenville Area Transit System (GREAT) has again been awarded the Safety Award from the North Carolina Public Transportation Association, now winning it three times in a row.The award is given for having the fewest at-fault accidents or incidents. GREAT beat out 13 other systems in the category of Urban Fixed Route Bus Service 999,999 miles or less by having no at-fault accidents or incidents.
“I’m so proud of our drivers,” said Transit Manager Nancy Harrington. “They are the best. Our passengers always rave about how wonderful our drivers are. It’s great that they can give such great customer service and still keep safety our highest priority.”
GREAT won the award in 1993, 96, and 2001, now they’ve won it for miles driven in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Charlotte Area Transit won for the 1,000,000 miles and over category.
