Inclusive Community Initiative - One of the Council’s primary responsibilities is to serve as the catalyst for building partnerships and to raise awareness on the importance and value of establishing an inclusive community that is created by involving the gifts and talents of every citizen in Greenville. The Council can only accomplish this awesome task by establishing and implementing human relations programs to promote various means of communication or understanding between people or a means of reconciling their differences. Good Neighbor Movement – The Good Neighbor Movement was created to inspire and encourage Greenville and Pitt County citizens to incorporate kindness in our communities, businesses, schools, organizations, etc. It is a selfless act to assist or cheer up someone you know or a total stranger. Being kind is a powerful interpersonal tool that citizens of Greenville and Pitt County can use to connect with one another. When kindness is expressed, we develop healthy relationships and communities, and people are motivated to pass kindness on. The Good Neighbor Week will be observed October 15 – 19 and Good Neighbor Day will be observed Thursday, October 18, 2012, to increase and inspire local citizens to create a more caring community and to publicize those efforts.
