2010 Fair Housing Events 

 

The City of Greenville, the Greenville Human Relations Council, the Greenville Area Property Managers Association and the Greenville-Pitt Association of Realtors invites the public to participate in a free Fair Housing seminar to be held in commemoration of National Fair Housing Month. Registration is required.

 

 

 

Fair Housing Seminar: 

The seminar is designed for property managers, landlords, or anyone interested in fair housing. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The speaker for the event is Attorney William Brownlee of Brownlee Law Firm located in Raleigh, NC. 

Fair Housing Poster Contest

The month of April is designated as Fair Housing Month, to commemorate Congress passing the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which includes the Fair Housing Act. To celebrate this significant movement in our history, the City of Greenville, the Greenville Human Relations Council, Greenville Property Managers Association and Greenville-Pitt Association of Realtors is sponsoring a Fair Housing Poster Contest. The purpose of the poster contest is to demonstrate non-discriminatory housing for all people regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, disability or family status.

2010 Theme:  "FAIR HOUSING: WE ARE ALL PART OF THE PUZZLE"

                    ENTRY DEADLINE IS APRIL 15, 2010

The Poster Contest is open to Pitt County residents in grades K-12, including Special Education. One poster representing the efforts of  an entire group or class will also be accepted.  Dimensions for the posters are 22 X 28 inches. For more information about the poster contest, please contact:   Cassandra Daniels at  (252) 329-4494 or send an e-mail to daniels@greenvillenc.gov.

 

There is no cost associated with these events. You may register by visiting the Greenville Human Relations Council webpage www.gnc-hrc.org. Both events will take place in the Council Chambers of Greenville City Hall, located at 200 West Fifth Street. The Fair Housing Seminar is scheduled from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m.

 

Registration deadline for the Fair Housing Seminar is April 19, 2010.
