As a team of human resource professionals, we continuously strive to be more progressive, innovative, and customer service driven to effectively support the departments and customers we serve.

The Human Resources Department administers the City's personnel policies on a day-to-day basis as they relate to recruitment, selection, training, career development, position classification, employee relations, performance management, salary and benefits administration, and safety in order to maintain an effective and responsible workforce.

Recruitment and Selection: Approximately 4,000 employment applications and job interest cards were received and processed during 2007.

AffirmativeAction/Equal Employment Opportunity: The City of Greenville is proud of its diverse workforce and is committed to the goal of ensuring that the City's equal employment opportunity policy is applied in all areas of human resource management. Minorities and women are represented in administrative, professional, technical, skilled and support positions in all departments.

Risk Administration: The City investigates and processes all City auto, general liability, and property claims through its comprehensive insurance and risk management program. The risk management program also administers the City's health and safety program.

Safety: The City of Greenville is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The Safety Specialist is responsible for facilitating a variety of programs designed to prevent accidents and injuries and to assure compliance with state and federal safety regulations.

Benefits Administration: A progressive and comprehensive benefits package is provided and employees are covered by various retirement, deferred compensation, and insurance programs.

Training: Employees receive in-house training and development through participating in workshops which include topics such as safety, supervision, customer service, sensitivity, and team-building. Through training and other learning opportunities, performance is increased and career enhancement is achieved.
