Captain Chris Ivey

The Patrol Bureau is responsible for general law enforcement duties and preventative patrol. Uniform Patrol Officers are responsible for the primary response to calls for service, traffic enforcement, street-level vice and narcotics enforcement, preliminary and follow-up investigations, and preventative patrol.

The Patrol Bureau is represented by four rotating platoons that provide 24 hour service seven days a week to the citizens of the City of Greenville.

The Patrol Bureau works together with the IMPACT Team, Housing Authority, Traffic Safety Unit and the Warrant Squad to maintain the highest quality of professional service to the community

Area Policing Plan

Through the Area Policing Plan, the citizens residing in the various geographical areas within the city limits of Greenville now have personal contact with police officers who they become familiar and comfortable with. This aspect of the Area Policing Plan is consistent with Community Policing Initiatives from across the United States. Area Commanders are able to focus the activities of officers in each district to ensure the most effective and efficient response to the problems in the area. The district area officers work to help empower the community members in their respective areas to develop solutions to identified problems. These techniques develop strong community/police bonds that allow for better working relationships, increased quality of life and decreased criminal activity.
