River Park North is a 324 acre nature park offering a variety of activities including pedal boating, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and a nature center. School, scout, church, and other groups are encouraged to visit. For more information call 329-4560.

Walter L. Stasavich Science & Nature Center Come see the 70-seat theater, 10,000 gallon freshwater aquarium, live turtles and snakes, wildlife dioramas and the “Shells Are Everywhere” exhibit. There are also several hands-on/interactive exhibits to enjoy. Schools, scouts, and organized groups may call in advance to schedule a visit. Call Christopher Horrigan, Parks Coordinator, 329-4562.

FISHING
RATES
$1.50 per day for Greenville residents
$3 per day for non-residents
$12 yearly (one year from date of purchase) permit for Greenville residents; $24 yearly permit for non-residents
$20 combination fishing/boat launch yearly permit
Senior citizen fishing permits are free (age 62 & over). They can be obtained at River Park North Science and Nature Center.
Children 15 and under fish free.
FISHING PIERS
Two 900-sq. ft. fishing piers are now open. Handicap accessible with low rails and a 12-car handicap parking area. Artificial reefs within easy casting distance are located in areas around the piers.
COMMUNITY LAKE FISHING PROGRAM
800-1000 channel catfish are stocked in our largest fishing pond each month April through September. These fish are already a good size for catching and eating when they are delivered. Feeders are used to keep them healthy, growing, and concentrated in an area where fishermen have easy access to catch them. This is a cooperative program with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. LOANER ROD & REEL PROGRAM
This is a joint program with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. Rods and reels are available for loan, to people fishing at River Park North. Application forms must be filled out and signed by parents for children registering. For information or to register, call 329-4560.

PICNIC SHELTERS
Large Shelter
Our largest shelter allows a maximum capacity of 250 people and is available for half day or full day rentals. Half day reservation are from Open - 3pm or 3pm - Close.
$30 - ½ day for Greenville Residents
$45 - ½ day for non-residents
$60 - full day Greenville Residents
$90 - full day non-residents
Groups of 75 or more pay an additional $50 clean up fee.
Small Shelter
Our small shelter is peacefully located on a quiet peninsula, a great spot for a birthday party. This shelter has a capacity of 25 people. Half day reservation are from Open - 3pm or 3pm - Close.
$20 - ½ day for Greenville Residents
$30 - ½ day for non-residents
$40 - full day Greenville Residents
$60 - full day non-residents
Individual picnic areas are also available in shaded areas, on a first-come, first-serve basis, at no charge.

BOATING
PEDAL BOATS AND CANOES - (Seat two to three dependant on boat)

Reservations are available for picnics, birthday parties or other private groups on weekends and weekdays with at least a weeks notice at our fleet rate. Our entire fleet (8 Pedal Boats and One Canoe) can be rented for a group rate of $32 per hour (a 50% discount on the single boat rate). Pedal boats are available for group reservations the first Saturday in May thru October 31 by advance registration only.
PRIVATE BOATS- Greenville Residents $2 daily boat launch, Non-residents $4 daily boat launch. $12 season pass for residents; $24 season pass for non-residents.

Photography Contest Description: The 8th annual Photography Contest for amateur photographers. Photos must be taken at River Park North, between June 1, 2012 –and May 31, 2013. We are looking for general photography featuring nature at River Park North. Photo entries may be received starting March 1, 2013 and the deadline for entries is 5pm, May 31, 2013.

Boating Safety Certification Description: A 6 hour course completing Boating Safety requirements

October Fishing Contest Beginning October 1 through October 31, park staff will weigh and register channel catfish that are caught at River Park North. Winners will receive prizes donated by area businesses. Regular daily fishing fees are applicable during this time. (Park is closed on Mondays) Call 329-4562 for more information. |
GREENVILLE RIVER PARK NORTH BIRD CLUB Organized in 1988, this club has 70 plus members with a wide range of interests, from backyard birders to rare bird-chasers. The group generally meets the first Monday of each month, with a few exceptions. Programs include guest speakers, local sightings, fieldtrips, and organized bird counts. Meets at 7:30 pm at the Walter L. Stasavich Science and Nature Center. For information, call 329-4562. |
