It is ON!

I was never a workout fanatic and had only recently started walking on a regular basis. I was doing pretty well...until I injured my leg. It took several weeks to heal, during which time I pretty much lost my drive to exercise. Over the next four months, I couldn't help but notice a gain of about 18 pounds in just four months (including Thanksgiving and Christmas). I realized that I needed to make some changes and fast.

For the past several years, we have done an interview with Kathleen Shank about fitness, wellness, and New Year's resolutions on GTV9's cityscene. It's a standard segment for us with Kathleen talking about how to be successful with starting a workout routine, why people fail, and encouraging us all to be healthier.

During the taping of this year's segment, I realized that the only way I was going to make a change and be successful was to commit. Kathleen agreed to take me on and help train me at the Aquatics and Fitness Center to become healthier and lose weight.

Over the course of the next several months, I invite you to follow my progress. I will try to post video clips each week to show you how I'm doing. If you are like me and do not exercise, do not eat well, and need to lose some weight, I hope it will inspire you.

If you have any questions about starting to exercise, I strongly encourage you to get in touch with the staff at the Aquatics and Fitness Center, take a tour, and take the first step towards a healthier, happier life.
