GREENVILLE, N.C. — Beginning Wednesday, March 15, the City will expand the number of leased spaces in the Fourth Street Parking Garage to accommodate parking for City staff. The change is the result of the pending closure of the parking lot on the corner of Dickinson Avenue and the Greene Street-Reade Circle Connector following the recent sale of the property for a $32 million housing, office, and retail development.

Under the new arrangements, 210 of the 236 parking spaces in the Fourth Street Parking Garage will be leased by the public and City staff Monday through Friday during the hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Individuals parking in spaces 27-236 during this time will be required to have proper identification on their vehicle. Spaces 1-26 in the garage are designated for use by anyone at any time, while all parking garage spaces will be open to the public Monday through Friday after 5:00 PM and on the weekends.

The City is also reconfiguring its Greene Street parking lot located between Third and Fourth Streets to open up more spaces for City staff, and a deal has been reached to lease some parking spots in the CenturyLink parking lot. Greenville Fire/Rescue and City Hall staff will utilize the Greene Street lot along with the Greenville Pitt-County Chamber of Commerce, while Greenville Police will park in the CenturyLink lot.
