GREENVILLE, N.C. — A public-private partnership will provide additional affordable housing in the city, including several units designated for homeless veterans.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday for Honor Ridge, a 21-unit housing complex located on Thomas Langston Road. The complex is the result of a partnership between the Greenville Housing Authority, Groundbreaking Developers, LLC, the Department of Veteran Affairs, social service agencies, volunteers, and several local businesses.

Of the 21 units at Honor Ridge, 14 have been designated for homeless veterans. The assistance for veterans was achieved through HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) vouchers obtained by the Greenville Housing Authority. Assistance will also include case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs.

"This partnership is a shining example of the private sector and the public sector working together for the greater good our our community," Greenville Housing Authority Executive Director Wayman Williams said.

Currently, Honor Ridge includes three buildings with seven units each offering one, two, and three-bedroom apartments on one acre of land. Additional phases of new mixed-income rental housing will be developed over the next several years for a total of 98 units on seven acres of land. The cost of the first phase was $1.5 million.
