GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Greenville City Council on Thursday night approved the conveyance of a City-owned property to the Greenville Housing Development Corporation in an effort to increase home ownership in the West Greenville Neighborhood Revitalization Area.Fleming Street aerial

The property, located at 1509 Fleming Street, has an appraised value of $11,500. The terms of the agreement would be to convey the lot to the GHDC in exchange for the construction of an affordable single-family home within 30 months. The home must meet the City of Greenville's new home standards and approved floor plans.

"Partnerships like these help us to increase our impact, extend our resources, and to reach shared goals for our community," City of Greenville Housing Administrator Tiana Berryman said. "Leveraging local resources is sustainable community development. It allows us to build from the inside out, support more people, and excites a unique sense of pride. I'm optimistic about what we can accomplish together."

Since its inception in 1983, the Greenville Housing Development Corporation has built five single-family homes and three apartment complexes for low to moderate income families in Greenville. Providing affordable homeownership opportunities has consistently been a top priority for the City and its Housing Division.
