Dickinson Ave Modernization Project
Project Description
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the City of Greenville propose to improve Dickinson Avenue from Memorial Drive to Reade Circle. NCDOT proposes to repair the existing drainage systems, replace the materials under the pavement and repave the roadway.
The City will improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities at the same time that Dickinson Avenue is under construction. The City is considering several options including widening and repairing sidewalks, adding bicycle lanes along a portion or all of the corridor, adding brick crosswalks, and/or adding brick pavers on Dickinson Avenue between 14th Street and Reade Circle.
Most of the work is anticipated to occur within the existing right of way limits. No relocations are expected. At this time, however, the NCDOT has delayed work on the project due to funding limitations.

At the same time, the City's Economic Development Office is looking at ways to utilize and revitalize the area along Dickinson from Reade Circle to Hooker Road.
