Metro Mayors Meet McCrory

Post Date:03/05/2013

Mayor Allen Thomas and members of the North Carolina Metropolitan Mayors Coalition met with Governor Pat McCrory and his  cabinet Secretaries today in Raleigh. The Coalition, which is comprised of the mayors of the state’s 28 largest cities and represents more than three million citizens, focused on issues important to Greenville and all the state’s metropolitan areas.

The Coalition presented their legislative agenda, which includes promoting innovative strategies to build and maintain transportation infrastructure, providing cities the needed revenues and resources to ensure they continue to serve as thriving centers for citizens, and supporting local law enforcement and the judicial system to reduce crime.

"These major cities are the hubs for driving the economy - both regionally and state-wide," said Thomas. "Together we attract industry, support innovation, and improve the quality of life for Greenville and the entire state. Working together, we hope to strengthen our cities by improving transportation, public safety, and the quality of life for everyone."

The visit to Raleigh was highlighted by a special reception with Governor McCrory at the Governor’s Mansion. As mayor of Charlotte, McCrory helped found the Coalition.
