Dream Park and Sprayground Dedication Ceremony

Post Date:06/24/2013

City and community leaders gathered as children looked on anxiously awaiting the official opening of Greenville’s first sprayground and the renovated Dream Park.

The sprayground is a fountain-like playground with a fire-fighting theme, complete with a fire engine. This theme was chosen since the sprayground is beside one of Greenville’s first fire stations and is close to the historic Minges Drill Tower, a 60-foot tower firefighters used for training for decades.

“It’s a great step forward for our park system to have such a dynamic facility as Dream Park, and the fact that it includes the City’s first sprayground is icing on the cake.  We look forward to all of the positive impacts this park will have on our community, its residents, and life in Greenville,” said Greenville Recreation and Parks Director, Gary Fenton.

In addition to the sprayground, other Dream Park improvements include a traditional and a nature-themed playground, a walking trail, restrooms, a large grill, a water fountain, picnic tables, and two picnic shelters.  The park also features a community garden, and City staff will add a public arts component in the fall.
