Fire-Rescue Personnel Recognized

Post Date:08/27/2013

The City of Greenville recognized 56 people at their annual Pinning / Awards Ceremony on August 26, 2013. Awards ranged from promotions from the past year to putting themselves at risk to help save others.

In all, 15 people were recognized for their promotions to EMS Specialist, Lieutenant, Captain, and Fire Marshal, and 36 people were recognized for saving a patient who was in full cardiac or respiratory arrest (not breathing and/or no pulse).

An additional 5 members of the Department were given the Distinguished Action Award. This is given for those who exposed themselves to extremely hazardous conditions and a high degree of risk in an effort to save the life of another.

Greenville Fire-Rescue is one of the few completely cross-trained departments in the state which provides fire suppression services along with ambulance transport at the paramedic level. The Department employs 157 people throughout six fire stations across the city.
