About the Plan

The "50 in 10" Affordable Housing Initiative is a commitment to build 50 affordable homes over the next 10 years. The plan is designed to support families, seniors, and individuals by increasing access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. The initiative launched in the West Greenville neighborhood with a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, August 25th, in partnership with Pitt Community College.

Why it Matters

Affordable Housing  allows families to thrive without being overburdened by housing costs. Housing options also benefit the economy by helping attract and retain workers, supporting local businesses. Stable homes also contribute to better health, education, and overall quality of life.

Plan Highlights

Goals of the 50-in-10 Affordable Housing Initiative include:

  • 50 new, affordable homes built in 10 years
  • Partnerships with contractors, nonprofits, and local community organizations
  • Community input guiding future program offerings
