There are two (2) grant cycles per year: spring and fall.

Applications for spring funding will be accepted from January 1 to March .1

Applications for fall funding will be accepted from July 1 to October 15.

Eligible neighborhood associations may only receive funding once per fiscal year. In other words, if a neighborhood receives fall funding, it is not eligible to receive spring funding that year. However, if a neighborhood’s application is not approved, it is eligible--and encouraged--to apply for funding again in the next cycle.

For consideration, a resident must complete a grant application. Each application should include at least two (2) quotes for the proposed project. While any member of the neighborhood association may complete the application, it requires a signature from an officer of the neighborhood association.

Paper applications can be picked up from Community Development Department staff, located in the City of Greenville Municipal Building, 201 West Fifth Street.

An eligible neighborhood can receive up to $750.00. In some cases, this amount will not address the proposed neighborhood improvement project’s total cost. In these cases, neighborhoods should consider additional fundraising activities.

The City of Greenville staff reserves the right to recommend part of the requested grant amount.

The eligibility criteria for grant projects include:

• Each project must adhere to all local, state, and federal laws.
• The proposed project must benefit the entire neighborhood.
• The neighborhood association must have spent all funds previously granted through this program prior to applying for another grant.
• Project proposals where a portion or all of the project activity will take place on public property must be reviewed by the public agency with jurisdiction over the project site prior to submission.

The City of Greenville staff will determine the eligibility status of proposed projects.

Only residents from neighborhoods with an eligible neighborhood association may apply. The eligibility criteria for a neighborhood association include:

• The neighborhood association must have elected officers.
• Each resident of the neighborhood must have the ability to become a member of the association and hold office.
• The neighborhood must have regularly scheduled meetings.
• Interior streets in the neighborhood must be public.
• The neighborhood must be located within the Greenville city limits.
• The neighborhood must contain a minimum of ten (10) detached dwellings or twenty (20) townhome units.

The City of Greenville staff will determine the eligibility status of applicants’ neighborhood associations.
