Interested in Becoming a Lifeguard?

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Ages: 15 & up

Strong swimming ability required

Become an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, CPR, First Aid and AED training. Pretest required, includes; 300 yard swim, treading and timed object retrieval. Must be age 15 by the last day of class. Fee includes $50 non-refundable deposit. Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability, course work will be required online before class. Recertification fee is $100. To set up pre-test please call (252) 329-4041.

Friday, November 6,  5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Saturday, November 7, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, November 8,  10:00 AM-7:00 PM
Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability.
A deep water session will be held at another location during a scheduled class time.
All regularly scheduled sessions are mandatory, the schedule may change slightly depending on the pace of the class.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification

Classes will resume in the fall. 

Must be a currently certified or within 30 days of expiration American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. Proof of certification required.

Candidates will complete pre-test at the start of class; 300 yard swim, treading and timed object retrieval.
Fee includes $50 non-refundable deposit. Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability, course work will be required online before class. To set up pretest please call (252) 329-4041 or email Dalace Inman at dinman@greenvillenc.gov.

Sunday, November 8 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Fee: $100

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course

Classes may resume in the fall.

Become an American Red Cross Certified Swim Instructor. This purpose of this course is to train instructors to teach swimming and aquatic classes at a professional level. Pretest of swimming skills required. Please call (252)329-4043 for more information. Must be age 16 on last day of class. Fee is $200, including a $50 non-refundable deposit. Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability. Some online course work may be required online before class.

Fee: $200.
