The Field Operations Bureau is responsible for general law enforcement duties and preventative patrol. Uniformed patrol and special operations officers are responsible for the primary response to calls for service, traffic enforcement, street-level vice and narcotics enforcement, preliminary and follow-up investigations, and preventative patrol. The Field Operations Bureau consists of the Patrol Division and the Special Operations Division.

The Patrol Division consists of four rotating platoons that provide 24 hour service seven days a week to the citizens of the City of Greenville. 

The Special Operations Division consists of the Gang Unit, Housing Authority, Traffic Safety Unit, and the Reserve Officer Program. Both Divisions work together to maintain the highest quality of professional service to the community.

Major Kenneth Laws is in charge of the Bureau.
