Wildwood Homeschool “Ology” Series | |||||||
We will be hosting a number of programs this spring intended for homeschool students that will focus on different areas of scientific study. Dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. Please pre-register each child for each session individually, click HERE to register online. These programs will meet at the Wildwood Welcome Center.

What birds pass through Wildwood Park during their spring migration? Find out as we explore the park in search for birds large and small. A limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow. Morning Kayak Trip from Town Common to Wildwood Saturday June 10 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. |
Start your day with us as we paddle down the Tar River! Kayakers will be transported back to Town Common at the conclusion of the trip. Bring a water bottle and dress to get a little wet. We have a limited number of sit-on-top kayaks, so register quickly. Trip may be cancelled on short notice due to weather or river conditions. Join us after the sun goes down and the forest cools off for a hike at night! We’ll keep an eye out for nocturnal animals that are much easier to spot in the dark. Wetland areas around the Tar River are important to both humans and wildlife. Let’s explore the swamps of Wildwood Park to find out why they are so important and see what plants and animals live there! Dress to get dirty and a little wet- we’ll try to catch reptiles and amphibians as well as insects and macroinvertebrates. Beat the heat and kayak on the lake at Wildwood Park. This guided tour will be a great chance for beginners to learn how to kayak as well as an opportunity for experienced kayakers to explore the park from the water.
