SAN ANTONIO - The City of Greenville was one of the winners during the 2016 City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) National Savvy Awards presentation held on September 8 in San Antonio, Texas.

Greenville won the Silver Circle Award in the category of Communication or Marketing Plans for its Street and Pedestrian Transportation Improvements Bond marketing efforts. The $15.85 million bond was passed during the 2015 municipal election with more than 60 percent of the vote.

Judges noted that the City's use of visual content was very resourceful and captivating during its promotion of the bond. Additionally, they said the promotional items included an impressive list of frequently asked questions that presented information in a concise and streamlined manner.

"This transportation bond referendum was vital for our city, and I'm pleased that 3CMA recognized all of the efforts that went into educating the public and promoting the benefits of passing it," City Manager Barbara Lipscomb said.

The Savvy Awards, held in conjunction with 3CMA's Annual Conference, recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city, county, agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing. 3CMA accommodates local government organizations of all sizes and budget classes by judging entries in several different population groups.

More than 700 entries in 38 categories were submitted. 3CMA utilized volunteer judges from across the United States to review every entry and provide constructive comments on the winning entries.

68 first-place Savvy Awards were presented. 67 second-place Silver Circle Awards and 68 third-place Awards of Excellence were also presented.
