Once the Elm St. Gym, the facility reopened in August 2012 as the Drew Steele Center. The project included gym and restroom renovations, a new weight room, visitor reception area, multi-use area, offices, and accessibility modifications. Also part of the project were outdoor improvements including an outdoor classroom and a trail connector to the Greenway. The Drew Steele Center is a modern facility created to allow access to all Greenville residents regardless of their physical abilities. Funding was provided through private donations, a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant, and from the City of Greenville.
